Today’s Word: Slack

Well, I decided today to do everything I possibly could do to avoid being slack, which somehow has culminated in my work day finishing just after 2pm!! So I got to go out and enjoy the sunshine, talking my dog Dexter for a walk.

So what did I do? I did all the things I usually don’t do… I put perfume on before I went out to work this morning, I called a girlfriend I hadn’t talked to in over a year to catch up (because I had been slack and not called her… naughty me), I followed up on a lunch date with my Toastmasters mentor which should be happening this week, I actually managed to have a chat with a couple of work colleagues, I went to collect some keys for a job and went from the house to the office and back to the house within 5 minutes (thanks to a vacant car space outside the office), and I sat in a cafe rather than in my car or study and punched out my work amongst the hubbub of people chatting.

All in all, it made the day all the more enjoyable that I tried not to be slack. And after all this, I’m going to try a slow cooked beef for dinner for my boys. Starting cooking dinner at 3pm is hardly at all slack, is it!?

Moral of the day: No matter what life gives you, turn it into a positive.
